5 quick bits of inspiration
Hi friends,
I’m at the beach on vacation this week, so I thought I’d share a few things that I keep in mind to help me stay on track and perform at my best.
What happens isn’t always in your control. How you react to what happens is always in your control.
Always.
It’s one of the reasons a core value at Dragon Army is to “think positively”. Not everything is going to work out the way you planned. In fact, most things won’t. How will you react when that happens? How do you want to react?
Don’t forget: how you react to challenge defines you as a person.
You become who you spend time with.
Which is why these are the first two people I went to visit post-quarantine.
Start saying “I haven’t made time for that” instead of “I don’t have time for that”.
If you’re saying, “I don’t have time for <insert something you want to do>”, then you’re letting that toxic phrase restrict you from accomplishing your dreams. You control the majority of how you spend your time. Start prioritizing and focusing on what you decide to do with your time, and if possible, match that up against your person Purpose.
Stop comparing yourself to other people. Compare yourself only to who you were yesterday.
We get too caught up in what other people are doing and how we match up. I know I do.
Just think about the you of yesterday. Did you improve? Did you move closer to achieving your goals? If not, how can you make sure that tomorrow you’re a better version of yourself?
Who cares what everyone else is doing? (And even worse, how everyone else is suggesting they’re doing in social media.) All of that is a distraction.
Be you. And be proud of you.
Happiness and fulfillment on the journey just might be more important than winning.
In fact, it definitely is.
And don’t forget that the very best way to feel fulfilled and happy (and this is scientifically proven) is to help other people. Do some good and you'll find your happiness.
I hope you’re happy,
Jeff
